SCJTL will help the USTA Eastern Section introduce
tennis in schools through the
USTA USA School Tennis Program.
This incredible program is designed to integrated tennis into a
school or school district’s physical fitness program or enhances
existing tennis courses.
The Suffolk County Junior Tennis
League (SCJTL) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and
have teamed up to bring the exciting world of tennis to Suffolk
County schools. The USTA USA School Tennis
Program, considered the crown jewel of the many USTA community
tennis programs, introduces your students to the lifetime sport of
tennis. As the Executive Director of the Suffolk County Junior
Tennis League, USPTA Certified tennis professional in Suffolk
County, and a Certified USTA School’s Clinician for many years, I
know this program will help open the world of tennis and its many
opportunities to all school districts. I am so excited about this
program that I have volunteered my time to help make this program
available to all of the schools in Suffolk County. I would like extend this
opportunity to introduce all Suffolk County school districts to the
USTA USA School Tennis Program. The program is designed to
integrated tennis into your physical fitness program or enhances
your existing tennis course. The USTA USA School Tennis Program
includes:
a.
Introductory assemblies by certified Schools Clinicians
designed to excite your students about learning and playing tennis.
b. Teacher training and course materials.
c. Tennis racquets
and latest trainer tennis balls for use with your tennis classes.
d. Follow up assemblies to introduce your new curriculum.
e. Consultation service to help grow the presence of tennis in
your district through programs made available from the USTA, SCJTL
and other community tennis associations and events in or near your
school district.
f. Encourage
and assist school districts to apply for USTA Public Facility Funding grants. SCJTL has help two school
districts (Shoreham-Wading River and Northport) file
successful
grant applications in the last two years!
The cost of this program is “$25.00”!
That’s right. All of this is available
all schools as a
USTA Member Organization. This program has been around for years
and I feel it is an opportunity Suffolk County school districts
deserve.
I have assembled a team of
Certified Clinicians to help make this program more accessible to
the many school districts in Suffolk County. This team includes
United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Certified
Tennis Professionals and Coaches whose vested interests include
sharing the lifetime sport of tennis with everyone and growing their
tennis community.
Tennis truly is
a lifetime sport. I look forward to sharing this great experience
with the students and families in all Suffolk County school
districts.
