I am very familiar with the operation of tennis clubs, having spent my early years assiociated with the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills ( former home of the U.S. Open), followed by 30 years as a tennis member Southward Ho Country Club and two years as a tennis member of Nissequogue Country Club.
During my year at Port Jefferson Country Club, I got to know Joe and cam to admire his dedication to his profession, his responsibility for the upkeep of the tennis court facility and his quality of instruction. I am on the faculty of Stony Brook University, so I am interested in teaching techniques, wherever I find them. Many times I would stop at the entrance of the courts to see how Joe conducted lessons. I was very impressed by his teaching style. He always demonstrated an unusual combination of acute observations, encouragement and precision with a light spirit that made the lessons enjoyable for all students. I was so impressed by his teaching style, that I started to arrange lessons for my wife.
I have know many tennis professionals both at clubs and in competitive situations (as Director of the Ball Boys and Girls for the U.S Open for 25 years) and I consider Joe to be without doubt, the best I've ever seen in running all aspects of a tennis facility.

Hi Joe-
Thank you so much for working with Gary (Former #1 H.S. singles and now #1 college singles) and Kenny (current #1 HS singles) recently. Your expertise helped them both to "get back on track". We so appreciate your genuine interest in them and it meant so much to us that you rearranged your busy schedule so you could make time for them. You helped us out too!!! Both boys won matches since working with you, and more importantly, came back in matches when they lost the first set...no giving up!!! Kenny came back in his first match of the season and won: 0-6,6-1,6-0. Gary won one match and lost the second one this week but was very competitive throughout the entire match. He put it all out there!!
