What do I do if I want to enter but can't mail
the entry form in before the deadline?
You can fax the entry form with your credit card number, the name of the
card and the card's registered street address to 631-590-5019 before
Thursday morning (7:00 am).
Who can play this tournament?
Boys and girls grades 7 thru 12.
USTA junior membership is required.
Members of middles school, junior varsity, and varsity tennis teams.
Girls who have played, will play, or tryout to play on tennis teams in
the fall.
What if my school does not have a tennis team?
Boys and girls grades 7 thru 12 in schools that do not have tennis teams
in the level or grade they can try out for are welcome to enter the
tournament
What if I didn't qualify for my school tennis team?
You can enter the tournament and will be placed by grade level.
What type of scoring will
be used.?
Players will play using a point play format alternating serve every 5
points..
What does timed format mean?
Players will play using the point play format lasting 15 minute
intervals.
How can I win this event?
Players (teams) will play all the players in their division. If needed
separate groups will be set up and players will be entered randomly in
each group. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 players in each
division. In division where group are set up, there will be a play off
for the top 2 players in each group.
How can my school win the school trophy?
All points earned by players on schools with tennis teams and those
without will be accumulated
from the scores of singles and doubles points from both boys and girls
results.
There will be one school trophy for each division.
Points from players playing doubles from
separate schools will not be applied.
Why would the LIITC be "closed out"?
This is the first year of the LIITC and we don't know how many players
will enter this event. We currently have one location for the
doubles and two for the singles. If we see the enrollment nearing
established indicators that capacity will be met, we will close that
category off. This will not be an exact science. If we see more middle
school players signing up than varsity, we will reduce the varsity
division to accommodate the larger middle school group.
How would I know that my
entry was accepted and where I will play?
Your entry will be confirmed by e-mail ( by phone if no e-mail address
is supplied). We will then determine where each division will play based
on the number of entries a week ( by April 21) before the tournament
starts.
How would I know about the
status of the tournament?
Information regarding tournament status, rain cancellation
and anything affecting the tournament will be posted on the SCJTL web
site: on this page - at www.scjtl.org
click "Announcements" and a time stamped announcement
on the SCJTL program line: 631-590-5019.
Why do I have to join the
USTA?
The LIITC is a joint effort between SCJTL and the USTA Eastern
Section and is designed to provide a tournament experience to school
tennis team players and to promote USTA membership. Even though USTA
membership is required there are many benefits to being a USTA Junior
member (Click
here visit the USTA Eastern Section web site). USTA membership also
supports local tennis programs developed thru the USTA.
More FAQ's will be added
as they are asked.
