End of season message:

Dear Tennis Members,

The record breaking rainfall at the start of the 2009 season resulted in the loss of a lot of court time.

In order to make up for some of time, a two (2) week extension of the tennis season with a modified schedule starting Friday, October 15, 2009 has been approved.

Please note the following regarding playing time and rules:
The tennis courts will be available to PJCC 2009 tennis members only.
The tennis Pro Shop will be CLOSED for all member services.
Members may call the PJCC Village Hall office at 631-473-4962.
An announcement on the pro shop voicemail will be made if the courts are closed due to the weather whenever possible. There may be times when tennis members may have to check to see if courts are playable on their own. The pro shop answering system will be set to announcement only. No messages will be taken.

Members are asked to observe all rules as during the tennis season:

Open Time and Challenge Court play will be available on Saturday and Sundays only 7 am to 12 noon.

Members are asked to observe the following time limit using the honor system.

1.     Singles – 1 hour

2.     Doubles – 1 ½ hours

The following plan has been approved and will be implemented as of October 15, 2009:

Pro shop staffing and services will end Thursday, 10-15-09 as scheduled.

Starting Friday, October 16 until Sunday November 1, 2009:

1.     The water will stay on to preserve the quality of the har-tru.

Please note the daytime watering schedule will be daily from 2 pm to 3 pm. This will be programmed into the water system timers!

The water sprinklers will go on by themselves.
PLEASE: DO NOT PLAN TO PLAY DAILY BETWEEN THE TIME FROM 1:45 PM TO AT LEAST 3:30 PM.

2.       Lights on courts 1 thru 4 only will be kept on during week nights (Monday thru Friday) from 6 pm to 9 pm.

                A. No lights will be turned on courts 5 thru 8.

                B. No lights on Saturday and Sunday evenings during this period.

3.     Court 1 will still be used for lessons:

A.    Daily: Tuesday thru Sunday

B.     Evenings: Tuesday thru Thursday. If it not used for lessons, court will be available to the members.

4.     The courts will be swept (not lined) in the morning by one grounds crew member. The liners and brushes will be available for use by members. Please hang them up on the fence when not in use.

5.      Starting Friday, October 31, 2009, lights will no longer be available.

6.      Starting Monday, November 1, 2009, tennis court water service will no longer be available.

 We will continue to keep the nets up until the first or 2nd week of November, weather permitting.

In the event that the weather becomes a threat to the integrity of the courts the nets will be taken down and season closing service will be scheduled. The courts will then be locked up and closed for the season.

 I hope the weather during this time will cooperate and allow you to enjoy some extra quality time on the courts.
