March 12, 2005: SCJTL/SBU Seawolves Suffolk County Coaches Workshop was held at the Stony Brook University Indoor Sports Complex.

The SCJTL Suffolk County Coaches workshop was held on Saturday, March 12 at the Stony Brook University Indoor Sports Complex. In spite of the snow 16 coaches attended the interactive workshop hosted by the Coach SBU Seawolves Varsity Tennis program.

The workshop was conducted by Varsity Head Coach Gary Glassman and SCJTL Executive Director Joe Arias. It took place in the SBU Indoor Sports Complex on a tennis court on the gymnasium floor in the basketball arena. Topics included, foot skills and warm up routines as well as technical skill building. Tal Meir and James Carpenter of the men’s team and Sandy Wijeratne of the women’s team were present to demonstrate the drills.

Suffolk Coaches look on as Seawolves demonstrated drills

SCJTL and SBU have teamed up to grow school and community tennis in Suffolk County. Joe Arias and Coach Gary Glassman are both members of the USTA Eastern Section Collegiate Tennis Committee. Joe Arias is Intercollegiate Tennis Association Advocate for the Seawolves Varsity Tennis program.
SBU is the location for SCJTL programs and events such as the Summer Tennis Academy, a junior tennis camp, and the SCJTL Summer League Challenges. SCJTL and the Seawolves host Tennis Team Training workshop for juniors ages 10 and over who wish to play or currently play on school tennis teams. The workshops are also fundraisers for the Seawolves Varsity tennis program.
Seawolves home matches are a unique opportunity to see NCAA Div. I college tennis matches.
